Mark Batson Baril has a history of developing and maintaining long-term relationships with his business partners. These relationship talents are well documented by the success of his company Cut Smart Engineering & Manufacturing, Inc. founded in 1998, and by the reputation he has always enjoyed among his peers.

Born in 1962, and raised in New England, Baril is a graduate of Merrimack College, (The Business and Engineering School of Massachusetts, USA) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management.

He has been employed within the specialty converting industry since 1976 and has worked as everything from Machinist, Tool Maker, Laser Operator and Die Cutter to Sales Person, General Manager, Purchasing Manager, Process Engineer and Technical Guru. He has managed crews of people as small as one to as many as thirty-five. His experience encompasses production of products ranging from flexible-circuits and medical devices to high volume packaging, gaskets, filters and sporting goods products. His business partners range from mom and pop shops to multi-billion dollar aerospace giants.

Baril has served on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Diecutting and Diemaking (IADD) for several years and has served as Vice President for the New England region of the USA. He helped to build, and currently heads-up and coordinates, an international group of technical consultants that provide assistance to operators, engineers, and executives within specialty converting businesses. The IADD calls this group TECHTEAM.

Believing in strong associations and partnering for good results, Mark currently holds membership and is active in The International Association of Diecutters and Diemakers (IADD), The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), The Professional Ski Instructors Association (PSIA), and the United States Hang Gliding Association (USHGA).

Mark has been married to his partner Cate since 1990 and makes his home in the mountains of Fayston, Vermont – USA. In his free time he enjoys ski coaching, trail running, paragliding, and unusual travel.
