LAMINATION BASICS
Defining laminations when choosing a manufacturing process. This has been placed here as a very basic guide when using the method calculator.

Some manufacturing processes have a very difficult time processing multiple layers of different materials. Others handle this type of multi-material well. If you have a part that is made up of different materials that can be seperated by hand, it is considered a material With Removable Layers.

Permanent laminations include materials made of multiple layers of material that are permanently bonded. Plywood, some fiberboards, and many specialty plastics are considered single material laminations and are not considered laminations for processing.

A very common lamination is when adhesive is added to a raw material prior to processing. This type of lamination is considered a removable layer as the glues are not typically considered permanent and there is typically a liner that can be easily removed.
