DESIGN COMPLEXITY CHART | |||
|
This Method Calculator assumes that the part design is unique/custom and not an industry standard shape. Choose the part complexity level that best matches your project. ![]() Complexity 1 Sheeting/Slitting - Parts have no rounded corners or edges. No internal cutouts. Parts may be roll length in the case of slit to width only material. ![]() Complexity 2 Simple - Parts may have rounded corners and/or edges. There are no internal cutouts. Large notches and indentations may be present. ![]() Complexity 3 Moderate - Parts may have rounded corners and/or edges. There are typically internal cutouts or notches that leave a large (material thickness X 5 min.) wall between the outside edge of the part and the internal cutout or between individual internal features. >Complexity 4 Moderate/High - There are typically internal cutouts or notches that leave a small (material thickness X 2) wall between the outside edge of the part and the internal cutout or between individual internal features. Adhesive backers may be present. ![]() Complexity 5 High - Multiple layering of materials and partial depth cuts (Kiss Cutting) are major features of this part. Laminating, multiple materials, adhesives, and liners may exist. ![]() Complexity 6 Extreme - Closeness of internal and external features is extreme (less than material thickness), numerous extremely small features complicate this part. Internal feature size(s) is smaller than the material thickness. Please contact Cut Smart if you would like more information on this subject. |
